Crafting Victory: The Art of Designing a New Esports Logo
Esports has evolved from a niche subculture to a global phenomenon, captivating millions of passionate gamers and spectators alike. At the heart of every successful esports team or organization is a logo that embodies their identity and resonates with their audience. In this blog post, I will take you through exploring the intricate process of designing a new esports logo, from concept to creation, that captures the spirit of competition, camaraderie, and victory.
1. Understand the Team's Identity
This particular client, Exore, I have been working with for over 3 years now. He wanted to start his own esports team and reached out to me to help him launch this new brand. Being in touch working on various projects for that long helped me to better understand his vision for this team and the style that he prefers.
2. Research the Esports Landscape
Esports is a diverse and dynamic field, with different games, communities, and subcultures. Researching the esports landscape to identify trends and styles that align with the team's identity. I took notes of successful esports logos, paying attention to what makes them visually appealing and memorable. A lot of ones that I found that I liked personally reminded me of professional sports logos. Bright colors with bold shapes and text.
3. Choosing a Theme
Every esports logo should be centered around a theme that reflects the team's identity. It could be inspired by the game they play, a mascot, or a concept that embodies their philosophy. The theme should resonate with the team's values and create a strong visual connection.
Exore is great to work with because he does some of the hardest work for me; bringing unique ideas to the table. His favorite color is teal, and all of the stuff I have created for him over the years have reflected that. This bright teal that was chosen was perfect for this esports logo because it is bold and vibrant that represent energy, excitement, and passion.
Esports logos typically fall into two categories: those with a mascot and those based on typography. Mascot logos feature a character or figure, while typographic logos use letters and symbols to represent the team. I don't work too much with mascot styles, but Exore's vision for this Azure esports team was more of a shield emblem kind of design. Creating a unique shield design was the most imperative part of this logo to help it stand out in this now crowded space from a traditional looking shield.
Conclusion
Designing a new esports logo is a creative endeavor that requires a deep understanding of the team's identity, the esports landscape, and current design trends. By selecting a unique theme, a logo can be designed that resonates with gamers and fans alike. This logo is not just an emblem; it's a symbol of Azure's passion, commitment, and competitive spirit. Crafted with care, it will be a powerful representation of their esports journey, celebrating every victory and every match played. Be sure to check them out here!
